With 20 years of experience, NETT is one of the most prestigious school centred initial teacher training establishments in the country.

STOP PRESS - From September 2017, we are now running a Post Graduate Certificate in Education including 60 credits at master’s level. This is for both Secondary and Primary provision.

Secondary training

An 11-16 PGCE programme, with post 16 enhancement, is offered in most secondary school subjects. The training schools are all 11-18 mixed comprehensives and are therefore able to offer training in 'A' level teaching as well as Key Stages 3 and 4.

NETT is a centre for core SCITT, School Direct Salaried and School Direct Training programmes. These training programmes are offered across all subject areas dependant on local demand and lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). For non-salaried trainees, the PGCE qualification is also awarded. Salaried trainees can also access the PGCE if desired.

For 2017-18, all secondary trainees completing the course as grade 1 – ‘outstanding’ will be offered a pay incentive if they are employed in partner schools. This will mean they will automatically be moved up a level on the pay scale.

If you are interested in training with us on either of these programmes, please go to the relevant links for further information.

Primary training

NETT will be offering Primary ITT courses from September 2017. These can be accessed on UCAS by searching for NETT or Colne Community School. These courses will be delivered at the NETT base (Tendring Education Centre, Clacton Co16 8BE) by Tendring Hundred Primary SCITT.

For details on the Primary training offered, please see the THPSCITT website.

We are accredited by the University of Suffolk. We are validating for September 2017 to be able to offer a level 7 PGCE course which includes 60 Masters credits.

The latest Ofsted inspection in February 2014 has highlighted numerous strengths in the quality of teacher training provision.
