English GTP Graduate 08/09

"The training experience I had on my GTP course was invaluable. I really enjoyed the way I could just jump straight in and start teaching, alleviating any initial nerves.

This course enables you to become a member of staff immediately. There is no better way of training than being surrounded by accomplished and talented teachers.

The school I trained in offered me a position once I had qualified, which is quite often the case on the GTP course. I cannot recommend the GTP route highly enough for anyone that wishes to pursue a career in teaching."

ICT GTP Graduate

"I really enjoyed training through the NETT. I found the people and the course structure to be extremely helpful. The training was varied, relevant, and genuinely very interesting.

I was supported through each stage of the process, and while I had to prove I was good enough to be awarded QTS, I always felt like the staff involved were helping me to succeed and that any suggestions for improvement were constructive.

I guess the biggest compliment I can give the NETT system is that everything went smoothly: I was given enough support but I was never stiffled; given plenty of training tasks but always directed to resources; and I can't remember any problems or issues."

Dan Westaway

ICT SCITT Graduate 08/09

"Deciding to become a teacher, after coming from industry felt like a daunting feat. The NETT made the transition so smooth, that now at the end of my NQT year I feel like I have always been teaching.

After being advised of my options by the very supportive staff at NETT I decided on the SCITT PGCE training scheme giving me the access to teaching theory sessions, a balanced school timetable and the perk of gaining a qualification that lets me teach abroad!

I cannot praise the NETT and the program enough, the blend of teaching theory and work placement in a partner school gave me the skills needed to deliver “excellent” lessons and provide the feeling of belonging to my subject department – which I am proud to now be a full time member of."

Dance GTP Trainee 09/10

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my GTP year and can not thank the staff at the NETT and my placement school enough for making me feel part of a team. I have never once been treated as a “trainee” and have been supported by everyone around me from the very first day.

Coming from a year teaching ballet abroad, I already had some teaching experience, and the staff around me have made the transition from the private sector ballet studio to the public sector classroom as smooth as possible for me.

I like the fact that the GTP course allowed me to teach straight away, enabling me to build relationships with the students right away. Our days at the NETT SCITT centre have proved to be invaluable not only with the specialist advice we have received, but in sharing our experiences from the week with the other GTP’s. The friends I have made here will be friends for life."
