Jane Adamson

Programme Director

Having been involved in teaching and education for over 20 years in Southampton and Portsmouth, Jane brings with her the benefit of the experience of having worked in a number of challenging schools. Her subject specialism is Geography, (she has an Honours degree in Geography and a Masters degree in Geography in Education) but she has also taught a wide range of other subjects, including History and ICT while her leadership experience includes the posts of Head of RE, PSHE, Assistant Headteacher and most recently, AST. She has considerable experience of working with PGCE students and NQTs, while her AST role involved her in running training sessions and working with colleagues in a wide range of schools.

So appointment as Programme Director with NETT SCITT in September 2009 was a natural career progression for Jane, given her skills, knowledge and experience. Fired by the desire to see new teachers enter the profession equipped with the confidence, skills and enthusiasm to inspire their students, Jane has seized this opportunity to share her expertise and develop the next generation of high-calibre teachers. Under her care and supervision, trainees can fulfil their potential and secure entry to this challenging, demanding but rewarding profession.

Sheryl Green

Assistant Programme Director

Having taught in a range of schools and having held key leadership posts such as Head of Sixth Form and Leader of Continuing Professional Development, Sheryl brings to this post a wealth of experience and expertise. With a Joint Honours degree in French and English and a Master’s in Health Education her teaching career bridged the ‘academic’ and ‘vocational’ divide which has proven to be an asset in her current role.

Her association with NETT SCITT dates back to the early ‘90s when she first became involved as a mentor. From 1995 she was Professional Tutor for one of the Confederation partner schools, monitoring and assessing the progress of trainees within that school and supporting and training their mentors.

Her Hot Tip? ‘A trainee destined for success is one who demonstrates from the outset the right commitment, the ability to respond to advice and a determined and focussed aspiration to excellence.’

Approachable and essentially good-natured, Sheryl is passionately committed to instilling the highest standards and expectations in our trainees and believes in a judicious balance between rigorous assessment and compassionate support.
